Prismad implements radiometric ray-tracing through gemstone crystalline structures, calculating how light interacts with absorption bands at different wavelengths. The simulation engine models photon paths through faceted stones, accounting for refractive index variations and pleochroism effects along different crystallographic axes.
The Bench mode presents two virtual light sources simultaneously—select from daylight at 5500K, tungsten at 2850K, candle at 1900K, or five other calibrated sources. Adjust path length to simulate stone depth from 3mm to 15mm. The engine outputs CIE delta-E color difference, hue shift in degrees, and classifies change intensity from None to Dramatic based on spectral window overlap.
Pair mode transforms your camera into a colorimeter. Photograph a stone under two different lights, use the draggable reticle to sample specific facets, apply grey-card white balance, and compare measured values against Bench predictions. The Register logs every reading with optional photo pairs for long-term tracking of your collection.
